Description
Impactful research hinges on effective data management, accessibility, and collaboration. The South African Research Data Commons, implemented by DIRISA, aims to address this need, serving as an integrated, central hub that empowers all data stakeholders to seamlessly access, manage, share, and discover invaluable national research data resources. This initiative is crucial given the rapid generation of data and the intensifying challenge of long-term preservation. Furthermore, democratizing data access and use is paramount. Therefore, by providing data infrastructure, developing user-friendly interfaces, offering tools for data exploration, and supporting diverse user communities, all while ensuring responsible data stewardship, repositories would remain key to enabling broader participation in research and innovation, ultimately accelerating new discoveries and fostering data reuse. This talk will highlight key services offered by DIRISA that support researchers from initial planning stages to global discoverability.
