DESCRIPTION:6 July - 13 July 2025 (Team Selection)\n\nHosted by\n\nthe Ce
 nter for High Performance Computing (CHPC) of the Council for Scientific a
 nd Industrial Research (CSIR) and funded by the Department of Science and 
 Innovation (DSI).\n\nThe CHPC invites applications from suitably qualifi
 ed candidates to enter the CHPC Student Cluster Competition. The CHPC Stud
 ent Cluster Competition gives undergraduate students at South African univ
 ersities exposure to the High Performance Computing (HPC) Industry. The wi
 nning team is entered into the ISC Student Cluster Competition hosted at t
 he 2025 International Supercomputing Conference in Germany.\n\nThe competi
 tion registration is open to South African students enrolled in a STEM re
 lated degree who are in 2nd year if enrolled in a 3 year degree\, or in 2
 nd or 3rd year if enrolled in a 4 year degree.\n\nTeam Selection is desi
 gned to impart critical knowledge for building a cluster\, this includes: 
 using Linux systems\, the basic software stack of a cluster and cluster de
 sign. Team Selection concludes with an assignment which requires each team
  to build a prototype cluster in the Cloud. The results from the Team Sele
 ction project and this application are used to select the teams which will
  proceed to the CHPC Student Cluster Competition.\n\nThe Team Selection ro
 und will run from Sunday 6 July to Saturday 13 July 2025 and will be host
 ed in the .\n\nTeams chosen in the Selection Round proceed to the National
  Round where they build small HPC clusters on the exhibition floor at the
  CHPC National Annual  Meeting. The participants are given a selection of
  benchmarks and  applications to optimise and run on their cluster to dem
 onstrate their design’s performance. The winning team will be  entered
  in the 2026 ISC Student Cluster Competition during June\, in Germany.\n
 \nEach team is assigned a budget and a parts list from which they must des
 ign their cluster. The hardware\, as specified in the cluster design\, is 
 delivered to the exhibition floor of the CHPC National Meeting. The teams 
 are judged on a combination of their benchmark results and the design of t
 heir cluster.\n\nThere are no fees for successful applicants. The CHPC wil
 l cover the costs of accommodation during all events as well as travel and
