Description
While Data Management Plans (DMPs) are increasingly mandated by funders and national policies, they are often perceived by researchers as a static administrative burden rather than a tool for research integrity. This presentation provides an overview of SunDMP, Stellenbosch University’s current implementation of the FAIR Wizard (Data Stewardship Wizard) platform. Unlike traditional tools that rely on flat, open-ended templates, SunDMP utilises dynamic Knowledge Models to create an "expert system" that guides researchers through a contextual, branching conversation about their data. By focusing on the platform’s current functionality, the presentation will demonstrate how the system provides tailored guidance, automated predictive FAIR metrics, and machine-actionable outputs. This approach transforms the DMP process into an educational experience that fosters a culture of data literacy and helps researchers align their practices with the SU Research Data Management Regulation and the National Open Science Policy.
