Description
We are writing to propose the inclusion of a one-day workshop on PHITS (Particle and Heavy Ion Transport Code System) as part of the upcoming CHPC National Conference 2025. PHITS is a general-purpose Monte Carlo particle transport simulation code developed under collaboration between Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and several institutes all over the world. It can deal with the transport of nearly all particles over wide energy ranges, using several nuclear reaction models and nuclear data libraries. PHITS can support your researches in the fields of accelerator technology, radiotherapy, space radiation, and in many other fields which are related to particle and heavy ion transport phenomena. See PHITS website in more detail. (http://phits.jaea.go.jp)
This proposed workshop will introduce participants to the fundamentals of PHITS, demonstrate its integration with HPC environments, and provide hands-on training for practical applications. By incorporating PHITS into the conference program, we aim to enhance the computational physics and radiation transport components of the event and foster interdisciplinary collaboration among HPC users and domain scientists.
Workshop Highlights:
• Introduction to PHITS capabilities and applications
• PHITS installation
• Hands-on session: setting up and running PHITS simulations
• Q&A with experienced PHITS users
We kindly request a full-day slot, access to a training room with basic HPC setup or internet connectivity, and permission to circulate workshop materials to participants. The presenter will be experts from Japan Atomic Energy Agency.
We believe this workshop will provide significant value to the HPC community and complement the broader themes of the conference.
