- The results
- The significance of the results
- Back up your claims with facts and logic.
- Visualisation: use figures and graphs to illustrate your methods and results
- Be succinct: you only have one page.
Please address queries regarding student abstracts on the CHPC Freshdesk portal:
https://chpc.freshdesk.com/support/home
HPC Content: please include a brief description of the HPC aspects of your work, which summarizes the use of HPC or the application to HPC. For example, include information on HPC application code used, problem size, core counts, memory, scaling, use of OpenMP or MPI, computational challenges, etc.
Failure to include HPC content will most likely lead to rejection.
Poster Requirements
The PDF poster must be at least A2 in size and not larger than A1. It should be in a portrait orientation for A1 size, but may be landscape orientation for A2 size.
The poster must be of a design and with the text font and figures, etc., of sizes that makes the poster suitable for printing and display as usual for a physical conference, i.e., is readable at a distance of 2m. Also see the tips on Content above.
Students will need to print their poster themselves, and bring it to the conference.
Note that the PDF file of your poster will be made publicly available from the start of the conference and on the CHPC web site thereafter. Make sure to only include information that can be made public.
Get the CHPC logo from https://wiki.chpc.ac.za/chpc:logo but the overall design of the poster should follow that for a research poster.
Student Poster Competition
There will be competition categories for Masters and PhD students, and prizes are to be awarded in each category.
Posters will be displayed in the foyer of the conference centre. You are required to be present at your poster during assigned refreshment breaks to answer questions from the delegates and judges.

A selection of the successful poster presenting students will be supported for attendance of the conference based on assessment of poster abstract. This support will cover fees, accommodation, and may include travel. Note that we are not able to support travel from every part of South Africa, and do not support travel from outside South Africa. Students who are selected to be supported will be notified by Monday, 30 September 2024. Note that only students that were successful to be granted support will be contacted.
Only students currently registered at a South African university for 2024 are eligible for support.
